The President of Northern Illinois University is frequently asked to endorse and support charity events on campus. These requests are for the President's personal support as well as for an endorsement on behalf of the university. Agreeing to these requests may place the university in the position of endorsing an activity which is not wholly in the educational interest of the institution.

University endorsement of specific charities, beyond the local United Way and other agencies approved by the State Employee and Universities Combined Appeal, does not appear to be appropriate and will not be granted.
The President welcomes the opportunity to participate in charitable events as time is available.
