The office
of Conferences and Institutes is a department of the Holmes
Student Center, under the Division of Finance and Facilities.
Its primary function is to coordinate the use of all NIU-DeKalb
facilities and services for conferences, meetings, workshops,
institutes, and seminars for NIU departments hosting on-campus
meetings targeting off-campus registrants and non-university
clients hosting events at the NIU-DeKalb campus, with
the exception of the following; events in the Holmes Student
Center lasting only one day (or a fraction thereof) are
scheduled by the Holmes Student Center General Office
(753-1743). The office works with NIU departments and
non-university clients to assess meeting needs and reserve
meeting space. The office then develops and distributes
contracts for facility use. The office also makes arrangements
for campus support services, including, but not limited
to; housing, dining and catering, audio-visual equipment,
transportation, recreation, security and parking. The
office also markets the DeKalb campus to prospective clients
interested in hosting events on campus.
For
more information or to plan an event, contact the Conference
and Institutes Office in Room 118 of the Holmes Student
Center at 753-1586.
