HARASSMENT

Harassment can take place in many forms. It can occur in person, by telephone, or even over the internet. Most of the time victims will know the offender. The Department of Public Safety takes all incidents of harassment seriously. It is important to contact the Police Department at the first sign of harassment so that information can be gathered and documented by the responding officer. There may be times when other agencies, such as the telephone company or the State's Attorneys Office will need to be involved. The Police Department is available to refer students to the appropriate agency in all cases of harassment. In cases where a student feels threatened a court imposed "Order of Protection" may be in order. The Police Department will assist students in gaining an "Order of Protection" when appropriate. If you have any questions, contact the Department of Public Safety at 753-1212.
